It’s Hispanic Heritage Month Sept 15-Oct 15 and how crazy is it that our Fashion Friday is dedicated to the Joker and If you didn’t know The original Joker, Cesar Romero was Cuban! If you use to watch the original “Batman” tv series back in the day then you know who Cesar is.

Cesar Romero as the Joker

Cesar Romero as the Joker

Cesar Julio Romero a Cuban American was born and raised in New York, where he made a name for himself as a triple-threat actor-singer-dancer before heading to Hollywood. NYC Stand Up!!
Cesar was known as a heartthrob actor, playing the “Lover Boy” in The Cisco Kid. At the time it was surprising to his fellow actors that he would take up a role as a villain.

You know you have “juice” in Hollywood when he refused to shave his signature mustache for the part. Romero did it his way and proved he was perfect for the role, pulling off the trademark white face, green hair and maniacal laughter as an over-the-top villain.

Romero took a lonely character in the Joker and brought LIFE into it. We all know “batman” wouldn’t be the same without the Joker, Romero really took the character to another level with his signature laugh. That actors who played the role Mark Hamill,Jack Nicholson , Heath Ledge, Jared Leto and Joaquin Phonix had to perfect that laughter. Cesar made the Character so cool that in 2019 (40years later) there’s a movie base on the Character of the “Joker” with Joaquin Phonix playing the Joker.

We Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with the legendary Cesar Romero. Now when watching the old batman with your kids, you can let them know the joker was latino.
